Quote for pallet film

This is an approximate estimate for planning. Real usage varies with wrapping tension, pre-stretch and load shape.

How the estimate works

Each wrap around a pallet uses roughly the load perimeter, which is twice the length plus twice the width. The film climbs the load in bands, and with a typical 50 percent overlap each band advances about half the film width. We multiply the bands needed to reach the load height by the perimeter, by the number of wraps, then add a small allowance for overlaps and tails.

FAQ

Common questions

Pallet wrapping questions answered. We make shrink film and pallet covers to your gauge and size.

How much shrink wrap does a pallet use?
It depends on the pallet size, load height, film width and how many wraps you apply. As a guide, a standard loaded UK pallet uses roughly 150 to 250 metres of film for a secure two-layer wrap. Use the calculator for your figures.
What is the difference between shrink wrap and stretch wrap?
Stretch wrap is stretched around a load and holds by tension. Shrink wrap is applied loose and shrunk tight with heat. This calculator estimates film length for either approach.
What gauge of pallet film should I use?
Lighter, stable loads suit thinner film, while heavy or uneven loads need a heavier gauge for puncture resistance. We manufacture pallet film and covers to the gauge and size your loads need.
